Welcome to Oxted School, one of the country's largest Comprehensive Schools with a reputation for excellence, both locally and nationally. Established in 1929 as Surrey's first mixed Grammar School, we provide a high quality comprehensive secondary education for over 2,000 students aged 11-18, 400 of whom are in the Sixth Form.

Our aim is quite simple: to offer to all students an excellent education enabling them to achieve their full potential.

We strongly believe in the value of excellence for all, knowing that student achievement to their highest level is our core purpose as a School.

We understand achievement in the widest sense, and value all student success in all parts of our School. We know that our students enjoy the wide range of opportunities offered in academic subjects and creative and expressive areas of school life. There are truly fantastic opportunities to specialise in all subjects and to enjoy the enrichment and extension offered across the school in Drama, Music, Art and Sport. This is further developed by an outstanding range of extra-curricular activities, an extensive range of school trips and residential opportunities and by the opportunities offered in the Sixth Form.

It is a great honour to be the new headteacher of this school. My ambition is for Oxted to continue to be a high quality vibrant community school enabling all the students to enjoy their learning and flourish in whatever activities they undertake. I know this will happen best when they feel fully supported, which is a special strength of this school, as confirmed in our 2007 Oftsed report.

We have high expectations of all students, in their conduct, behaviour and achievement and this underpins our positive school ethos. We expect students to not only strive to achieve excellence but also to be able to reflect upon their efforts working with their tutors and through the House system.

The huge and unswerving commitment of all the staff at this school and the tremendous support we receive from our parents and the wider community are essential elements of our success.

Guy Nelson, Headteacher
